What is creative writing?

Creative Writing is Writing with a niche, I.e Writing that transcends/excel/surpass/outshine regular norms and standardization of Writing. Creative Writing comprises uniqueness of style, characterisation, plotting and narration of stories through Prose, Poetry, Drama and Story Teller(Narratives), Fiction or nonfiction. As a Creative Writer, you break norms and boundaries. Creative writing can technically be considered any writing of original composition.

Creative writing is any form of writing which is written with the creativity of mind: fiction writing, poetry writing, creative nonfiction writing and more. The purpose is to express something, whether it be feelings, thoughts, or emotions. Creative writing can be explained with the following sign posts:

  • Your raw material is your originality.
  • Your write-up stand you out.
  • You're not restricted.
  • Your perspective is broad.
  • Creative writing is very extensive.
  • Creative Writing is holistic and starts with passion... no Passion, no impact.


A Creative Writer can get inspired in different ways. From your favourite colour, your most memorable day or event, your favourite food, your environment to other things. What's important is for you to translate these Inspirations creatively I.e make something out of them.
